Edward Charles Mourre
December 3, 1943 - December 17, 2025
The family of Edward Mourre is saddened to announce his passing on December 17, 2025 at the Dinsmore Health Care Centre.
Edward Charles Mourre was born on December 3, 1943 in Rosetown, SK to Thérèse and Albert Mourre. He completed the family of four boys, joining his brothers Robert, Paul, and Denis. Edward lived on the family farm near Sovereign until the age of five when he began school. He attended boarding schools in Gravelbourg, Sask. from Kindergarten to Grade 11 and completed his final year of high school in Milden in 1962. He lost his dad at the young age of 13, resulting in a close relationship with his mother.
In his first year of working on the farm, the crop was hailed out, so he went looking for greener pastures in Ontario. His first job was picking apples, followed by a job at a steel plant. After that, he was employed at General Motors and worked there for a couple of years. He then decided to move back to the family farm and started working with his brother Paul. In 1970, he married Lillian Millar, and they moved to Uncle Henry’s farm which Paul and Edward had purchased a few years prior.
Edward and Lillian welcomed two sons, Darren in 1973 and Grant in 1975. Edward played hockey with the Sovereign Aces as a young man and later coached his boys’ hockey team with Marv Koberinski. He enjoyed traveling around the country to games. He attended and volunteered at the Milden Catholic Church and was a Sovereign Lions Club member. When he wasn’t farming or fixing, he enjoyed a round of golf, fishing, hunting, and traveling.
Edward laughed often and easily. He loved nothing better than a visit with neighbors and a Sunday drive in the countryside with Lillian by his side. Lillian and Edward shared an enduring and devoted partnership for 55 years marked by kindness and love for one another. Lillian cared for Edward at home until 2021 when he moved into the Dinsmore Health Care Centre. She faithfully drove to Dinsmore daily to spend time with him. A special thank you to Dr. Mynhardt and the staff at the Dinsmore Health Care Centre.
Edward is predeceased by his parents Thérèse and Albert Mourre and his brother Paul. He is survived by his loving wife Lillian, son Darren (Wynn Ann) and daughter Rebekah; son Grant (Carol) and children Ethan and Emma; his two brothers: Robert (Marilyn) and Denis (Armande), brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, as well as numerous cousins, nephews and nieces.
A Vigil of Prayer was held on Monday, December 29, 2025 at 7:30 p.m. at St. Theresa's Parish, Rosetown, SK and the Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, December 30, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Theresa's Parish, Rosetown, SK with Reverend Father Habila Musa celebrating.
