Les Crossman

September 23, 1957 – January 8, 2026

It is with profound sadness, the family of Leslie “Les” John Crossman announce his passing on January 8th, 2026, at the age of 68, following complications from a necessary, but highly complex heart surgery. Although a very devastating outcome, the family considers themselves incredibly fortunate to have shared “17 bonus years” with Les after his first heart surgery in April 2008. In true Les fashion, he met every challenge with courage and humor – cracking his inappropriate jokes right until the end.

Les was born and raised in Rosetown, SK in 1957 to John (“Jack”) and Betty Crossman on a grain farm just outside of town. Les developed a love for farming while working alongside his father, a passion he carried into adulthood. After attending The College of Agriculture at the University of Saskatchewan and working at the PFRA for 10 years, Les farmed on his own for many years (X-man Farms) before “quitting” farming in 2020.

Les is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Angela “Angie” (née Chorneyko); his son Cody; his daughter Nicole (Jordan); his beloved dog Zoey; and his pride and joys, his grandsons Nixon and Mason Mears. He is also survived by his mother Betty; his sister Susan (Derek) Rogers; his brothers-in-law Rodney (Marianne) Chorneyko and Darcy (Athina) Chorneyko; nephews Chad (Andrea), Todd (Michell), and Landon (Rebecca) Rogers; and nieces Emma Chorneyko and Jane (Sam) Kaardal.

He was predeceased by his father Jack Crossman; his brother Dave Crossman; and his cherished dog Foxy.

Les loved many things, including morning “coffee row” at Neil’s (McCallum Fuels), watching hockey, curling and football, golfing, and happy hour with his numerous friends. He enjoyed travelling to warm destinations such as Hawaii or Mexico with Angie, shopping on kijiji and marketplace, purchasing new vehicles, watching “Tik-tok’s”, playing cards and above all, spoiling his grandsons.

Les was a proud and dedicated member of the Rosetown Masonic Lodge #85, joining in 1992. He served as Worshipful Master from 1997 to 2006 and as Treasurer from 2003 until his passing. Les took great pride in the work of the Lodge and the friendships he built there over the years.

He will especially be remembered for his characteristic “cackle”, quick wit and boundless generosity. Les had a rare gift for making people feel welcome. He will be missed more than words can express and his legacy will live on in the stories, laughter and love he leaves behind.

A Celebration of Life will take place on Tuesday, January 20, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at the Rosetown United Church. In honour of Les, family and friends are invited to gather afterward for a come-and-go “happy hour” to raise a glass, share stories, and celebrate a life well lived at the Rosetown Royal Canadian Legion. A private family scattering of ashes will occur at a later date.

Special thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff of the Rosetown Hospital and RUH for the care of Les throughout the years.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Running Wild Rescue, reflecting Les and his family’s love for dogs (runningwild.rescue@gmail.com; 290 9th Ave NW Moose Jaw, SK; S6H 4H2).

Funeral arrangements entrusted to Shanidar Funeral Services.
