Remember When: The old Rosetown Community Hall

The old Rosetown Community Hall originally sat at 120 2nd Avenue West, the current site of the PCCU offices. In the spring of 1927, the Rosetown Elks collected $3,500 through a town canvas for the purpose of building a community hall. They also held a bond drive and sold $11,000 in shares. A dance was held for its grand opening. Later on, the lower level was finished to provide a lodge hall for the Rosetown Elks. In 1934, Colwell Lumber Co. took possession of the building for an unpaid lumber bill and eventually turned ownership over to the Town of Rosetown. Later, the library would be housed in the lower level of this building, and it was a temporary office for the town administration and the fire engine after a fire destroyed the town office in 1951. Many a dance, meeting, and community event was held within this building before it was eventually demolished.
