Shirley Ellamay Neumeier
March 5, 1934 ~ January 20, 2026 (age 91)
It is with sadness the family of Shirley Ellamay Neumeier, wife of the late William Ferguson Smith, announce her passing on January 20, 2026 at the Cut Knife Health Complex at the age of 91 years. She will live on in our hearts and memories.
As the 2nd child of nine born to Ellamay and Glen Hannah, she learned responsibility and creativity which was useful throughout her life. Like her father, Shirley chose the profession of teaching for 30 years until retiring.
Shirley and Leonard Neumeier married in 1954 and later welcomed James in 1956, Robert and Leslie in 1958 (deceased), Sandra in 1959 with Gail Winnacott joining the family at age 15. Leonard was diagnosed with MS and continued with active family life until long term care was necessary until his passing.
Shirley met Bill Smith and they eloped in 1980. Bill had three sons from a previous marriage - Rick, Bill and Bradley. When Bill retired from farming, Rosetown became their home enjoying bowling, auction sales and family; never missing yearly Hannah family reunions, visits from grandchildren and great-grand children.
Shirley is survived by her family: (James & Maureen) Andrew and Daniel, (Sandra & Dwight Paziuk) Zane and Jake, (Gail & Steve Tuck) Kyla (Paul) Suiter, KC Winnacott and Bill’s family: (Rick) Julie, Mathew, Rick: (Bill) Tyler & Britney: (Bradley) Jennifer her children Brett & Emma, Judy, Jamie - Kylie and Kaden.
Cremation has taken place and a committal will be held at the Dodsland Druid Cemetery at a later date.
