Peter Stanley Uhryn

June 26, 1954 – January 18, 2026

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Peter Stanley Uhryn on January 18, 2026. A man of many talents and even more stories, Pete was a devoted husband, father, passionate member of his community, and a proud Gido.

Born on June 26, 1954, Peter attended St. Joseph’s College in Yorkton (Class of 1972) before moving to Toronto to graduate from the Radio College of Canada in 1973 with a diploma in Electronic Engineering Technology. After college, he moved to Calgary briefly to build windows—a testament to his lifelong "get-to-work" attitude.

In 1974, Pete began what would become a notable 31-year career with SaskTel. He started with the SaskTel construction crews in the Saskatoon and Yorkton areas before moving into Install and Repair. In 1981, Peter married his wife, Susan. Together they welcomed two girls, Trudy in 1985 and Chantel in 1987.

His career with SaskTel took his family on an adventure to Buffalo Narrows in the early 90s, eventually leading them to settle in Rosetown in 1994. Even after "retiring" from SaskTel in 2005, Pete’s work ethic remained; he spent the next 15 years working for local farmers and was a familiar face changing oil at Regal Motors Ford.

Pete’s heart was as big as the Saskatchewan sky. As a Life Member of the Kinsmen Club of Rosetown, he looked forward to Kinsmen Telemiracle, and the many community events that the club hosted to support his community.  His passion was local community support, and the initiatives that supported projects which focused on a safe place for kids to play.

Hunting was a true passion that brought him many of his closest friendships over the years. His hunting buddies included everyone from his wife and daughters to his brothers, nephews, friends, son-in-law, and anyone else who needed a spotter.

In his later years, Pete's world revolved around his three grandsons: Braxton, Huxley, and Zane. Whether he was building Lego masterpieces, cheering at their sporting events, or simply hanging out in the backyard, Gido was always their biggest fan, greatest tickler and best cuddler.

Peter was predeceased by his parents, John and Katie Uhryn, infant brother Eddy, sister Fran Uhryn, brother John, brother-in-law Walter Belay, and mother and father-in-law Mary and Adam Yaworski.

He leaves to mourn his passing: his loving wife, Susan; his daughter Trudy (Sean) Mustatia and grandsons Braxton and Huxley; and his daughter Chantel (Ben) Clark and grandson Zane. He also leaves behind a legacy of hard work, community spirit, and a family that will deeply miss his steady presence and quiet strength.

In memory of Peter and his lifelong dedication to helping others, donations can be made to Kinsmen Telemiracle.

A Funeral Mass was celebrated on Wednesday, January 21, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Theresa’s Parish, Rosetown, SK. A private family committal will take place at a later date at Yorkton City Cemetery. The family invites those attending the committal to wear camo.

Funeral arrangements entrusted to Shanidar Funeral Services, Rosetown, SK.
