Marguerite Loitz

April 23, 1934 - May 3, 2026

Marguerite Loitz passed away peacefully on May 3, 2026, in Saskatoon, SK, at the age of 87 years.

Margie was born on April 23, 1934, in Rosetown, SK. She was a daughter of the prairies, raised on the family farm north of Forgan. She attended school in Forgan and Wiseton before moving to Saskatoon to work for Sasktel.

On June 14, 1958, Margie married the love of her life, Ron Loitz. Together, they built a life centered on family, hard work, and community. While she took on many roles throughout her life, Marguerite often said her "biggest job" and greatest pride was raising her five boys.

An entrepreneur at heart, she successfully ran the family business, Loitz Esso, for ten years. Later in life, she dedicated her time to caring for others while cooking at the Elrose Hospital and the Elrose Health Centre.

Upon retirement, Margie embraced the "snowbird" lifestyle - she had an adventurous spirit and a deep love for travel, always eager to see new things. Her journeys took her across Canada and the United States, and into the vibrant cultures of Costa Rica and Mexico.

At home, Margie was happiest when surrounded by beauty and laughter. She had a passion for flowers and gardening, and she lived for gatherings and celebrations where she could be with those she loved. She was a dedicated sports fan, enjoying athletics of all types, and cherished the simple joy of camping with family and friends.

Marguerite is survived by her loving husband Ron; her children Milton (Darlene), Curtis (Bev), Glen (Kelley), and Scott and her daughter-in-law Barb. Her legacy lives on through her grandchildren Cory (Tracey), Steven (Sarah) and Ashley (Tanner) and her great-grandchildren Robin and Lina. She is also survived by her sister Noreen Petkau as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents Lindsay and Betty Bell, son Howard Loitz and her brother Bill Bell.

Margie will be remembered for her adventurous heart, her dedication to her family and the vibrant gardens she left behind.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Margie may be directed to the Elrose Health Care Auxiliary ATTN: Connie, P.O. Box 554, Elrose, SK, S0L 0Z0.

A Celebration of Life was held on Friday, May 8, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at the Elrose United Church.

Funeral arrangements entrusted to Shanidar Funeral Services.

After Glow

I'd like the memory of me to be a happy one,
I'd like to leave an afterglow of
smiles when life is done.
I'd like to leave an echo
whispering softly
down the ways of happy times
and laughing times
and bright and sunny days.
I'd like the tears of those who grieve to dry
before the sun of happy memories
that I leave when my life is done.
