Gerald Clark
June 4, 1950 - June 17, 2026
Gerald Clark passed from us on the morning of June 17 with his wife Sharon (Longmuir) and son Micheil by his side and his Westie, Casey at his feet. Gerry was born on June 4, 1950 in Beechy Saskatchewan followed shortly by his twin, John. Gerry spent his first summer at Clearwater Lake where, later, he would enjoy many more with his family of siblings and cousins. In the last twenty years of his life the opportunity arose and he was able to return to Clearwater Lake, creating memories and meeting new friends while walking his dog, driving his golf cart and sitting on the deck.
Gerry's first three years were spent in Lucky Lake where his father Gordon taught school. Their next move took them to Conquest where he completed most of his schooling. The last two years of high school saw him in Saskatoon where he attended Walter Murray Collegiate Institute, meeting his future wife, Sharon, in grade twelve. Two years of attending the U of S followed. When he decided that pharmacy wasn't for him, he gained employment with The Saskatchewan Wheat Pool in Saskatoon. On February 12, 1972 Gerry and Sharon were married and in 1973 they had their first move with the Wheat Pool to Kindersley, where they met the Clark side of the family who took them under their wing teaching them what chuck wagon racing was about and attending Clark family reunions where they learned that both sides of Gerry's family were musical. Several moves followed quickly: Regina, Assiniboia, Outlook (where their son Micheil was born) and Watrous. Gerry ended his twenty-five year Wheat Pool career in Weyburn. However, serving the farming community was still in his blood and it took him to Wadena to manage NET Terminal. A few years later he came to Zealandia to manage Pro Can Seeds before being called to Vanguard to open a new plant there. Family brought him back to Rosetown where he and Sharon decided it was time to have their own business. They purchased Morning Mist Water in 2003 and operated it until its sale in 2017.
Retirement gave Gerry time to follow his passion of golf, allowing him to attend the Mullen Harvey Golf Classic in Waskesiu which he looked forward to each year, along with golfing in Rosetown with the seniors. Gerry followed his nephews and niece in their hockey careers from the time they were young and Jim Foster kept him updated on when the Senior Red Wings played. Their group of friends at the rink had their own seating arrangement. Gerry was an avid fan of all sports and kept up with them while not watching the news. A phone call in the morning or afternoon meant that there was news to share on coffee row and he was up and out the door, although this slowed down a little with the loss of his friend Bob White. Bob got him involved with the Youth Building, where as President, he often enjoyed the company of the Wheatland Industry guys and gals.
Gerry was actively involved in each community he lived in, but Rosetown truly became home. As head of the Chamber of Commerce he acted as MC for their banquets, a natural skill that was polished by attending Toast Masters in Watrous. He also became involved with Orange Memories Care Home, becoming their Chairperson. It was here in Rosetown that Gerry followed in family footsteps by becoming a member of the Masonic Lodge, where he held various positions and was their Master at his passing. The Masonic Lodge was a true passion for him as his father and two uncles were avid Masons and it brought him many friendships that he truly treasured. You could not leave town when the Harvest Festival Parade was about to happen as he loved being part of the parade handing out candy to the children always looking for our special friend Ali Haider and his family.
Their fifty-four years of marriage were filled with love of family and community and Gerry's sense of humour, selfless service and strong moral code served us well. Gerry was predeceased by his parents Gordon and Lela (née Burrell) Clark and his in-laws Mervin and Dorothy Longmuir along with many family members that brought joy to all. He is survived by his wife Sharon and son Micheil. Family Kathryn Hoiness: son Jeff (Shannon) Dalyn (Bailey) children Margo and Eloise, daughter Cassidy. Son Darren (Shannon) Eric and Bryn. Daughter Heather. Heather Clark. John: Son Ryan (Anra) children Lela and Nellie. Son Lee (mother of the boys Barbara Clark-Mitchell). Cheryl Pelletier: daughter Susan Hall children Avery (deceased) and Gavin. There are many cousins, both passed and surviving that added so much to his life and will always be remembered by us.
A Celebration of Gerry's Life will be held on Friday, July 3, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at the Rosetown United Church.
