Rosetown Royals, Elrose swimmers post strong results at home meet

Rosetown Royals swimmers captured three individual victories and recorded five runner-up finishes, while the Elrose Prairie Speed Swimmers also turned in several top performances at the Royals' home swim meet on June 20.

For the Royals, Jaycie Fortin won the girls nine-and-10 100-metre freestyle in one minute, 35.94 seconds and the 100-metre individual medley in 1:53.07. She also placed second in the 25- and 50-metre butterfly events and the 100-metre breaststroke.

Hunter Fortin won the boys nine-and-10 100-metre individual medley in 2:24.81. He also finished second in the 50-metre butterfly, fourth in the 25-metre butterfly and sixth in the 50-metre freestyle.

The Elrose Prairie Speed Swimmers had four athletes finish among the top three in their age groups, coach Crystal Minogue said.

Grover Minogue won his age group, while Felix Minogue and P.C. Strydom each finished second. Brandon Friesen placed third. Complete event results for the Elrose swimmers were unavailable at press time.

Among the other Royals, Jacob Nickel finished fourth in the boys 13-and-14 50-metre butterfly, 100-metre freestyle and 200-metre individual medley, fifth in the 100-metre butterfly and also competed in the 200-metre freestyle.

Annabelle Kayseas placed second in the girls 11-and-12 25-metre butterfly, sixth in the 100-metre breaststroke, eighth in the 100-metre freestyle, 12th in the 50-metre backstroke and also swam in the 200-metre individual medley, 200-metre freestyle relay and 200-metre medley relay.

Mason Menei finished sixth in the boys 11-and-12 25-metre butterfly and ninth in both the 50-metre backstroke and 50-metre freestyle.

Carson Gramlich placed eighth in the boys 11-and-12 50-metre breaststroke, 11th in the 50-metre freestyle and 13th in the 50-metre backstroke.

Parker Gramlich finished 12th in the boys nine-and-10 50-metre freestyle.

Marcus Batallones placed eighth in the boys nine-and-10 50-metre backstroke.

Noah Grobler finished second in the boys seven-and-eight 50-metre backstroke, third in both the 25-metre backstroke and 25-metre freestyle, and fifth in the 50-metre freestyle.

Nathan Vilar won the boys seven-and-eight 25-metre backstroke and added a third-place finish in the 50-metre backstroke.

Raine Klippenstein placed third in the boys seven-and-eight 50-metre freestyle, fifth in the 25-metre backstroke, and sixth in both the 25-metre freestyle and 50-metre backstroke.

In relay competition, Vilar, Klippenstein, James Graham and Grobler placed second in the seven-and-eight mixed freestyle relay.

Batallones, Carson Gramlich, Nickel and Menei finished eighth in the boys nine-and-over 200-metre medley relay.

Reina Budd, Jaycie Fortin, Kayseas and Sophia Belcourt placed 15th in both the girls nine-and-over 200-metre medley relay and 200-metre freestyle relay.

Carson and Parker Gramlich, Nickel, Menei and Batallones also competed on the boys 200-metre freestyle relay team, which finished 15th.
