The library is embracing all things mysterious with its book displays this month, inviting readers of all ages to explore everything from classic detective stories to contemporary suspense.
Kids can dive into the intriguing world of Nancy Drew. Created by Carolyn Keene, the first book in the series, The Secret of the Old Clock, was published in 1930. It was followed by 174 more titles as the series skyrocketed in popularity and became a cult classic.
Another iconic mystery author fills the shelves of the adult display: Agatha Christie. Famous for characters like Hercule Poirot and Miss Marple, Christie’s works have long stood the test of time and cemented her position as one of the greatest mystery authors to ever live.
Also featured this month:

Standing by on the sidelines is slowly killing Chris, but making a move would destroy someone else.
A Far-Flung Life by M. L. Stedman (historical fiction). Outback Western Australia, 1958: for generations, the MacBrides have lived on a remote sheep station called Meredith Downs. One ordinary day, on a lonely road, patriarch Phil MacBride swerves to avoid a kangaroo. In seconds, the lives of the entire MacBride family are shattered. Then, instead of leaving wounds to heal, fate deals them more blows. Matt, the youngest MacBride, is forced to choose between love and duty, sacrifice and happiness.
Ruins by Lily Brooks-Dalton (adult fiction). Professor Ember Agni is a rising star in archeology pursuing her true passion: unearthing a lost empire that no one else believes existed. She’s just about to give up on her ambitious expedition when a message arrives from overseas. A former student claims to have found something extraordinary — an artifact that hints at the forgotten world lying beneath history’s tidy surface.
Mayhem and the Mortal by Shanora Williams (fantasy). To save her sister from a soul-devouring curse, Zaira has to cross The Shallows — a nightmare landscape of ruined magic, shifting paths and vicious creatures. Her guide? Thane Valkor: sorcerer, assassin and walking red flag. Whatever he’s really after, it’s not salvation. He promises to help Zaira. He might even mean it. But Zaira knows better than to trust a liar with a blade and ice in his veins. She just doesn’t have a choice.
Served Him Right by Lisa Unger (thriller). Ana Blacksmith has gathered her closest friends and sister Vera for a brunch to celebrate her recent breakup from her boyfriend Paul. But when shocking news about Paul arrives, all eyes are on Ana, the angry ex. Suspicions only intensify when Ana’s best friend falls deathly ill after the brunch. But Ana isn’t the only one who had a score to settle with Paul. Ana and Vera are determined to find the truth before Ana takes the fall and their own long-buried history comes to light.
