Redwings fall in double overtime, trail Rebels in U-18 A female final

The U-18 Western Prairie Redwings are one game into the Saskatchewan U-18 A female hockey championship final, and they are already in a tight battle.
The Redwings dropped a 5-4 decision in double overtime to the Regina Rebels Red in Rosetown last Friday. The teams were scheduled to play Game 2 of the series Sunday in Regina.

Lindsey Campbell, Ella Ryland, London Zacharia and Delaney Cruse scored for the Redwings. Marisa Winny and Ryann Erickson each contributed two assists. Kailee Preston was busy in goal, turning aside 47 shots.
Regina replies came from Makayla Bjornson, Raia Nachtegaele, Brea Hutchinson and Jessenia Baete. Myla Kolodziezak ended the game at 10:18 of the second overtime period, firing a high shot from the right point.
The teams had already played through a 10-minute first overtime before the winner was decided in the second extra frame.
Rebels goaltender Easton Petracek made 42 saves for the win.
The Redwings advanced to the final by taking two straight games from the Saskatoon Comet Rush after dropping the opener.
Western Prairie earned a 4-3 win in Rosetown on March 22 following a 4-2 victory in Saskatoon on March 21. The Rush had taken Game 1 by a 2-1 score in Elrose on March 18.
Maggie Knight, Taia Winny, Ryann Erickson and Delaney Cruse scored in the Rosetown win. Kamryn Ewen, Abby Davis and Maddison Drobot replied for Saskatoon. Preston was in goal for the Redwings, while Avayda Sylvester tended the Rush net.
In Saskatoon, Cruse scored twice, with Erickson and Marisa Winny adding singles. Ewen and Davis scored for the Rush. Preston again handled goaltending duties for the Redwings, while Londyn Martens was in net for Saskatoon.
