Main Street paving project underway in Rosetown

Workers were scheduled to begin paving the south end of Main Street on Monday, and forecast rain is not expected to cause significant delays.
Recent wet weather "didn't slow them down too much in Biggar," Rosetown Chief Administrative Officer Damon Werrell said last week.
"It's been raining constantly and they were able to finish the paving project in Biggar," Werrell said. "I'm optimistic it will be completed promptly and quickly."
He said he hopes the work will take about a week.
Sidewalks will remain open to provide access to businesses along Main Street, but the town will close two blocks at a time while work is underway, according to a notice on the Town of Rosetown's Facebook page.
The section from Railway Avenue (Highway 7) to Sixth Avenue is receiving a new surface through a mill-and-recap process. The existing pavement is ground up and reused to create a new, smooth driving surface.
"It takes approximately three days to pave one block, weather permitting," the notice said.
Southwest Paving of Swift Current was awarded the project after submitting successful bids totalling about $612,600 through two town tenders. Senior staff had originally hoped the work would take place later in the summer.
The town is asking business owners to advise staff and customers to park on nearby avenues during construction. Delivery drivers are also encouraged to use back alley entrances or park on an avenue while the work is in progress.
