Dynamos down Cyclones to force semifinal decider

The Dinsmore Dynamos had to beat the Davidson Cyclones yesterday to keep their season going.

In their Sask Valley Hockey League semifinal series, the Dynamos beat the Cyclones 6-4 in Dinsmore last Wednesday. The Cyclones had won 5-3 in Davidson on Feb. 4.

The Dynamos had lost their senior B first-round provincial playoff series to the Wilkie Outlaws.

Against the Cyclones on Wednesday, Matthew Jones and Logan Casavant each got two goals and Benson Thorpe and Trey Doell got singles. Thorpe and Justin Ball had two assists each.

Declan Hobbs made 29 saves in the Dynamo net.

Ian Parker, with two, Derek Allan and Tory Allan got Cyclone goals.

Davidson goalie Brett Matlock stopped 26 shots.

Ball scored a hat trick in Davidson. Chad Westman assisted on two goals.

Hobbs made 30 saves.

Aidan Gray, Ethan Grabowski, Mark Walchuk, Darwin Morin and Kent Walchuk, who also had two assists, scored for the home team. Tory Allan also got two assists.

Matlock made 22 saves.

In their provincial series, the Dynamos won 5-2 in Dinsmore on Jan. 30 but lost 7-6 in Wilkie on Feb. 6 and then 4-2 in Dinsmore on the 8th.

The Outlaws play the Eston Ramblers who beat out the Biggar Nationals in the first round. The teams were to play in Eston on Thursday in Wilkie last Sunday and, if necessary, in Eston on the 23rd.
