Barbecue trailer stolen from Fiske curling rink fundraiser operation
ROSETOWN — Rosetown RCMP are investigating the theft of a custom-built barbecue trailer from the hamlet of Fiske.
Police say the theft occurred the morning of Feb. 17. Surveillance footage shows a male suspect hooking a vehicle to the trailer before driving away.
The suspect vehicle is described as a red GMC or Chevrolet half-ton pickup truck with a silver rear bumper and black mudflaps. The truck was seen leaving Fiske with the trailer attached.
The stolen trailer is custom built and features white rims, a black barbecue and two propane tanks. It also has red and white reflective stickers around the trailer and does not have a licence plate.
RCMP are asking anyone with dash camera or surveillance footage that may have captured the suspect vehicle in the Fiske area the morning of Feb. 17 to contact police.
“Those from rural Saskatchewan know that a barbecue is more valuable than its typical use. In many of the communities we serve it supports fundraisers, gatherings, events and, in this case, specifically the local curling rink,” said Cpl. Chris Gramlich of the Rosetown RCMP.
Police say the public’s help may be key in identifying the suspect vehicle or locating the trailer so it can be returned to the community.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Rosetown RCMP by calling 310-RCMP. Tips can also be submitted anonymously through Saskatchewan Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or online at saskcrimestoppers.com.
