Angels get a win in third start

Last week, the senior Rosetown Angels got in the win column in their third game of the season and also had a rainout.

The Angels were to play in Kerrobert last Sunday and are to host the Kindersley Klippers on Wednesday and take on the Raiders in Kindersley this Sunday.

They defeated the Kindersley Stallions 12-2 in five innings here on Tuesday.

On Sunday, May 31, the Angels had just got loaded up to drive to Kindersley to play the Klippers when they found out Kindersley had had "a pretty good shower," and so the game was called off, said player-manager Ryan Wickett.

While they might make it up with a doubleheader in Kindersley, that hasn't been arranged yet, said Wickett early last week.

Noah Martens pitched all five innings for the Angels, allowing two runs on two hits and two walks, striking out four batters and hitting one.

Rookie Angel Reese Gyug hit a double and a single and also got a walk. Colin Pylypow hit a double and a single. Brock Thomson, who caught the entire game, hit two singles and had a walk.

Stallions starter J.D. Knutson went four innings and struck out four batters and allowed six runs on four hits and one walk.

Ty Stevens pitched the fifth inning and allowed one hit and five walks and hit one batter. The game was then called by the mercy rule.

Knutson helped his cause by hitting a double and getting a walk.
