”A Life Well Lived”
On April 11, 2026, Leo Simon Hartman passed away. He made it to his 96th birthday.
Leo was born July 27, 1929. Leo was the seventh of eleven children born to Leo & Adelaide Hartman. Leo took his schooling at a one room school known as Evanson School east of Kelfield. Leo moved to Elrose in 1948 and worked three summers for Ernie Bryngelson. Leo also worked one winter in Toronto at a rock wool insulation plant.
The next winter he went home to work and the third year he married Verna Poulter on November 10, 1950. They moved to the farm where they raised their children; daughters Leona (Monty) and Sabrina (Peter) and sons Kim (Deloris) and Owen (Bonnie). He was also blessed with 14 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Leo & Verna farmed together for 33 years until Verna's passing in 1983.
Leo met and married Mary Ann Torrance in 1987 and welcomed Mary Ann's children Mark (Angela) and Clint and their children into their extended family. Leo farmed for two more years until they moved to Elrose. They made their final move to Swift Current in 2017.
Leo was a proud, hard-working farmer. We will miss him dearly.
At Leo's request there will be no formal funeral service. An immediate family memorial service will be held at the Elrose Cemetery.
In lieu of flower donations can be made to the Elrose Volunteer Fire Brigade or STARS (ambulance).
Funeral arrangements entrusted to Shanidar Funeral Services.
