In Loving Memory of Robert Francis Fischer

January 12, 1953 – February 23, 2026

It is with immense sorrow and profound love that we announce the passing of Robert Francis Fischer — a devoted husband, proud father, cherished grandfather and great-grandfather, and a man whose strength and steady presence shaped the lives of so many.

Bob was, above all else, a hardworking man. For 40 years, Bob dedicated himself to his trade as a meat cutter, building his career from the ground up, eventually managing multiple Loblaws locations. He took great pride in his work and in providing for his family. In 2005, Bob moved to Rosetown to own and operate the Shop Easy, quickly becoming a familiar and trusted presence in the community. After selling the store in 2016 and entering pre-retirement, he found that slowing down didn’t suit him. Bob began working at Western Sales shortly after, continuing his hard work in the wash bay and assisting with the trucking department.

His work ethic was unwavering, but it was his character that left the deepest mark. Bob carried himself with integrity, quiet strength, and a stubborn determination that those who loved him knew well. He had a calm presence that made others feel steady, and a quick, witty sense of humour that could lighten even the heaviest moments. If something needed to be done, Bob was the first one there and the last to leave. He believed in respect, loyalty, and doing things the right way. Having built countless friendships over the years, he seemed to know everyone, and everyone seemed to love him.

Sports were one of his great passions. Hockey and baseball were lifelong loves — he played them, followed them closely, and rarely missed a game. In the late 90s, he served as President of the Humboldt Broncos, a role he was incredibly proud of. In later years, some of his greatest joys came from sitting in the stands, watching his grandchildren play. Whether it was a rink, a ball diamond, or a gym, he was there — steady, supportive, and proud.

Above all, Bob treasured his family. Large gatherings filled with good food, laughter, and storytelling were where he felt most at home. His home was always welcoming, and his love for his family was constant and steadfast. He was happiest surrounded by those he loved — often with a smile that can never be forgotten.

Robert leaves behind his beloved wife of 45 years, Catharina; his children, Donna (Ryan), Christine, Sandra (Drew), and Ryan (Lindsay); his grandchildren, Chaenna, Brannen, Cody, Ashton, Ethan, Paige, Josh, and Rylan; and his great-grandchildren, Ava and Cooper.

He was predeceased by his parents, Fred and Mary, as well as his brothers, Pius and Adolf.

Bob’s legacy is one of hard work, pride, loyalty, and love. He will be remembered for his strength, his stubborn spirit, his dedication to family, and the smile that could light up a room. Though he will be deeply missed, his presence lives on in the values he instilled, the stories that will be told for generations, and the wit he gave so freely.
