In Loving Memory of Dana Roy Hansen

July 15, 1956 – March 13, 2026

It is with great sadness that the family announces the sudden passing of Dana Roy Hansen on March 13, 2026, at the age of 69.

Dana was born in Lucky Lake, Saskatchewan, and attended school in Dunblane, Birsay, and Lucky Lake. Throughout his life, he was known for his strong work ethic and willingness to take on many roles. He worked alongside his father in roofing, spent time in Yellowknife doing concrete forming, and most recently worked as a crop adjuster with Crop Insurance.

Dana had a deep connection to the family homestead near Dunblane, where he spent countless hours farming and caring for livestock, including hogs, cattle, poultry, and goats. The farm was more than just land to Dana—it was home, a place where he found purpose and pride.

He had a passion for fishing, collecting old vehicles, making sausage, and BBQing for family and friends. Dana especially loved his dogs over the years—there was never a dog that didn’t love him right back.

Dana married Sherry “Gail” Sinclair in 1976, and together they built a life in Dunblane. In 2025, they fulfilled a lifelong dream by building a new home on the family homestead, where Dana had always hoped to live.

Dana is lovingly remembered by his wife, Gail; his daughters Annita and her daughter Taylor (Christian), and their children Lloyd, Ripley, and one on the way; Erica (Scot) and their children Jessi and Ethan (Alicia) and their daughter Oakley; Ashley (Murray) and their daughter Olivia; and Jesse (Ian).

He is also survived by his sister Lois (Jack) and numerous nieces and nephews.

Dana was predeceased by his parents, Gordon “Garth” and Mildred Hansen, and his brothers Trent and Floyd.

A private graveside service will take place, with a Celebration of Life to be announced at a later date.
