Wheatland Library launches Winter Reading Challenge
By Brittany Booth
Rosetown Library Manager
Library users are invited to take part in the Wheatland Winter Reading Challenge, running now through Feb. 28. Participants can record their reading minutes and complete activity challenges for a chance to win prizes including a puzzle, mug and blanket set; a family board game set; or a $100 Lego gift card.
Readers can register online at wheatland.beanstack.org using the same account from previous summer reading challenges. For those who prefer paper, the library provides physical tracking sheets that librarians can enter on Beanstack to ensure eligibility for prizes.
The library also highlights several new titles for readers to enjoy this winter:
Anatomy of an Alibi by Ashley Elston (Thriller)
Camille Bayliss suspects her husband, Ben, has been hiding secrets for years—but he tracks her every move. Aubrey Price blames Ben for a traumatic event a decade ago. Together, Camille and Aubrey swap places for twelve hours so Camille can spy on him. When Ben is found murdered the next morning, only one of them has a perfect alibi.
The Viper by Brad Meltzer (Mystery)
Andrew Fechmeier harbors a deadly secret. After being diagnosed with a terminal illness, he leaves a suit containing something priceless at a funeral home. When Fechmeier is murdered, detective Roddy LaPointe, aided by Zig Zigarowski, races to uncover the hidden object before the killer does.
The Shark House by Sara Ackerman (Adult Fiction)
Marine biologist Minnow Gray investigates a series of shark attacks on the Kohala coast. Haunted by a childhood tragedy involving her father and a great white, Minnow must confront the past to understand the present. Her search uncovers shocking truths that cut as deep as the sea itself.
The Bookbinder’s Secret by A.D. Bell (Historical Fiction)
In 1901 Oxford, apprentice bookbinder Lily Delaney receives a burned book containing a fifty-year-old letter about love, fortune, and murder. Her curiosity leads her into a dangerous pursuit as she discovers more hidden books and pages—and soon realizes others are also hunting the secrets.
Most Eligible by Isabelle Engel (Romance)
Georgia Rose joins the reality show Love Shack not for love, but to write a revealing exposé. Her plans unravel when country singer Rhett Auburn, her unforgettable one-night stand, becomes the season’s host. With the executive producer closing in, a second chance with Rhett could be Georgia’s riskiest move yet.
The Wheatland Winter Reading Challenge encourages all ages to keep reading through the cold months while having fun and earning rewards.
