Sports This Week: Sunday league tops Tournament of Champions; Royals advance in badminton

Bowling
The Sunday 7 p.m. league champions won the local bowling Tournament of Champions on Wednesday with a 3,099 handicapped score.
Roger and Rhonda Nash, Jerry King, Cliff Forsyth and Brian Andersen led the way.
The Friday 1 p.m. league champions placed second at 3,066. Margaret Ewen Peters, Gary Peters, Fran Kerr, Ila Tatomir and Barb Slocombe made up that team.
The Monday 7 p.m. league champions finished third with 3,051. Dave Graham, Kelly Graham, Dale Der, Dorina Mareschal and Bill Shkolny competed.
The Wednesday 1 p.m. league champions were fourth at 3,031. Jayne Labrecque, Edith McQueen, Connie Rhicard, Pat Lange and Kay McKillop bowled for that group.
The Wednesday 7 p.m. league champions placed fifth at 2,896. Gord Gallaugher, Darion Jones, Eric Kozakevich, Raynor Amos and Max Bozhok were on that team.
The Thursday 7 p.m. league representatives finished sixth with 2,724. Warren Robinson, Lynn Berger, Roberta Bell, Taelyr Pflegher and Penny Andersen competed.
Three local teams were to compete in the Club 55 tournament in Regina on Monday.
Darion Jones, Jerry King and Walter Fernet qualified for interprovincial tournaments in Winnipeg, set for Wednesday through Saturday, through Rising Star and Fun Bowl provincial rounds. Bill Shkolny will coach, along with replacement player Dennis Brooks of Swift Current.
The season wraps up locally with a no-tap tournament on May 2.
High school badminton
Ten Rosetown Royals advanced to senior district playoffs in Kindersley after sectional competition in Rosetown.
Hailey Burton defeated Jaryn Doell of Biggar to win girls singles.
Mark Mofolasayo and Bennett Ironside beat Boyd Anderson and Klaas Wouldwijk in an all-Rosetown boys doubles final.
Rayna James and Jacob Weber won mixed doubles, defeating Adriana Alzate Sanchez and Caleb Hardenne of Biggar.
Griffin White placed second in boys singles behind Noah Park of Biggar.
Chloe Bartusek and Chloe Evan of Plenty reached the girls doubles final but fell to Madison Mosterd and Dallas Bradley of Biggar.
Heavy snowfall delayed junior sectionals in Rosetown from Thursday to Monday.
Thirteen junior Royals qualified through inter-sectionals: Harper Kampen in girls singles; Emery Carlson and Nixon Dyok in boys singles; Andrea Kahovec and Kathryn Claffey in girls doubles; Dmytro Nikolaienko and Cohen Wickett, and Maddex Gray and Mykola Melnyk in boys doubles; and Sydney Dessert and Mitch Nunweiler, and Rachel Dobson and Jasper Adnam in mixed doubles.
Dinsmore Composite was set to compete in senior south sectionals in Kyle, weather permitting.
At junior south sectionals in Elrose, Dinsmore athletes had strong results. Ali Morrison won girls singles and Lucas Bencharski won boys singles. Two other Wildcats placed second, with all four advancing to districts in Biggar.
Gymnastics
Rosetown Gymnastics Club athletes posted strong results at the Gymtastiks of Moose Jaw Stick It Invitational on April 11 and 12.
In Xcel bronze (ages nine and 10), Kenley Craig placed first on bars and fourth all-around, while Hailey Emmons placed sixth on beam and floor.
In Xcel bronze (ages 11 to 13), Aubrey Lovenuk placed third all-around, while Lila Danychuk recorded top-10 finishes.
In Xcel silver, Kamryn Ismond won floor and placed fifth all-around, while Ryleigh Herman placed 10th on bars.
Paysley Ogilvie competed in Xcel gold, placing eighth on bars and 10th all-around.
