The Kerrobert Red Dogs travel here to play the Angels a week from today when the Fertile Valley Baseball League starts its season.
That will be one of two games on May 19. Two Kindersley teams, the Stallions and the Cubs, will also do battle then.
For their second game, the Angels will travel to Oyen on May 24.
The Red Dogs are a new team in the league. Their addition helps to compensate for the Eatonia Wheat Kings choosing not to play this season. Those will be the only team changes in the league, which also includes the holdover Kindersley Klippers and Kindersley Raiders.
The Angels have two new players, said player-manager Ryan Wickett.
Joel McGrath had pitched and played infield for the Stallions. He is working for Western Sales Truck and Tire, said Wickett.
Nathan Barnett is also new and working at Mainline Auto Group, but that was all the Angels skipper could say, having not met him as of last week.
Nik Amundrud is returning from an injury and is expected to catch and play some infield, said Wickett.
The only player from last season who won't be returning is Hayden Connor from Beechy, who went back to the United States, he said. In 2025, Connor had played for the Angels when not playing for the home-town Breakers.
Seven at provincial gymnastic meet
Seven athletes "proudly represented" the Rosetown Gymnastics Club at the Saskatchewan Gymnastics provincial championships May 1 and 2 in Regina, stated club coach Fern Dyer in a report.
This was the first time at provincial championships for Paysley Ogilvie, Audyn Gilroy and Myla Van Hove, said Dyer.
Maddison Van Hove, Kaia Ginther and Arabella Gilroy have attended in the past "and both Kaia and Arabella received seventh-place ribbons on vault for their age categories," said the coach.
Freya Farden moved up a level this year to platinum and placed fifth on vault.
"These girls demonstrated commitment and resilience at a highly competitive level. While they did not reach the medals podium, each athlete delivered strong performances against some of the province's best competitors," said Dyer.
"Participation at the provincial championships in itself is a major achievement. It signifies that these athletes are among the top in their level and their dedication deserves recognition," she stated.
"These girls will now continue training for another month and then take a few well-deserved weeks off before once again beginning to train working towards goals in a sport they have so much passion for," concluded Dyer.
Golf
The Rosetown course opened on Friday, although it had already been used the day before for the first junior golf lesson. Zack Taylor of Saskatoon returned to teach four lessons, all on Thursdays in May.
Morgan Meyer is also back as head groundskeeper.
Hunter Bergerman is in charge of the clubhouse this season.
Membership rates increase about three to four per cent, said Ryan Wickett, chair of the executive.
