Royals place third among 3A schools at provincials

Thirty-two local and area athletes took part in the provincial track and field championships in Saskatoon on June 5-6.

These included 24 students from Rosetown Central High School. The Royals’ performances placed the school third in aggregate points among the 3A schools attending the meet. Due to technical problems, the final points totals and some results were not available at press time.

Six students from Dinsmore Composite School and two from Elrose Composite School also competed.

Among the Royals, Reese Kampen placed seventh in the senior girls 1,500 metres, 10th in the 3,000, 14th in the 200 and 24th in the 100.

Hailey Burton finished 18th in the senior girls 100, 20th in triple jump, 21st in discus and 26th in long jump.

Jordan Merrifield placed 24th in the senior girls 400 and 27th in long jump.

Three other senior girls also competed. Neda Robertson finished 22nd in triple jump. Angel Matro placed 24th in shot put. London Zacharias finished 24th in the 80-metre hurdles.

Four Royals competed in senior boys events.

Eli-Yah Fenosoa finished 12th in the 100-metre hurdles and 19th in both the 100 and 200.

Jacob Weber placed 15th in triple jump.

Griffin White competed in the tetrathlon, finishing 11th in the 800, 22nd in the 100 and 23rd in both shot put and long jump.

Corbin Wiens placed 17th in the 1,500.

Kya Kennedy finished 25th in junior girls shot put.

Collins Legge placed 21st in junior girls discus and also competed in the 1,500 and 3,000.

Ishaq Reid won the bronze medal in junior boys discus.

Also among the junior boys, Glen Matro finished 11th in triple jump and 23rd in long jump, while Aries Espino placed 23rd in triple jump. Both also competed in the four-by-100-metre relay.

Three Royals competed in intermediate girls events.

Harper Kampen finished fifth in the 1,500.

Sydney Dessert placed 10th in the 200 and 11th in the 100.

Kensie Cowan finished 17th in the 100.

Three Royals participated in intermediate boys events.

Mark Mofolasayo placed 11th in triple jump, 24th in the 200 and 25th in the 100.

Jude Merrifield finished 27th in the 400.

Nicholas Keith Grey Eyes placed 24th in the 800.

At least two other Royals, Tess Kelly and Wade Halliday, also competed at the meet, but their results were not available by last week's deadline.

The Dinsmore Wildcats competed in eight events.

Ainsley Beattie finished eighth in senior girls javelin.

Blake Lawes placed 24th in senior boys javelin.

Ashley Alberto ran on the West Central senior boys four-by-100-metre relay team, which placed 13th.

Makenzie Crofts competed in three junior girls races, finishing 13th in the 3,000, 18th in the 1,500 and 23rd in the 400.

Meyer Sawyer placed 18th in intermediate boys discus.

Rowen James finished 21st in the intermediate boys 400.

Brandon Friesen of Elrose Composite School placed 13th in junior boys shot put and 24th in javelin.

Fellow Elrose Eagle Samantha Llesol competed in three intermediate girls events. She placed 22nd in the 200, running a personal-best time of 29.52 seconds, finished fifth in long jump and ran on the four-by-100-metre relay team that placed fifth.
