She and eight others will receive recognition awards, given “to individuals who have devoted their time and effort to the growth of sport in Saskatchewan,” the release said.
As well, recipients of six excellence awards, given for outstanding event performances, will be announced during the gala.
Senecal will be one of three people honoured with volunteer dedication awards.
Skate Canada–Saskatchewan nominated Senecal for the award, giving this citation:
“For three decades, Allyson Senecal has taken on various roles within figure skating and has been guided by an athlete-first philosophy when making decisions.
“Whether she is volunteering as an official or leading the Skate Canada–Saskatchewan board as president, Senecal works to achieve what is best for the sport and those involved.
“In the diverse areas in which she volunteers, Senecal has played essential roles in ensuring provincial and national events take place without error.
“As a technical representative, she oversees every part of competition and acts as a liaison between local organizing committees, officials, athletes, coaches and Skate Canada. Senecal’s selfless attitude is the base on which she has built success for the figure skating community in Saskatchewan.”
Last June, Skate Canada recognized her as the Saskatchewan winner of the organization’s National Volunteer Awards.
Also receiving volunteer dedication awards will be Darin Degenstein for ringette and Dave Elder for athletics (track and field).
Four others will receive coach dedication awards: Melissa Lock for handball, Mark Lord for soccer, David Wassill for adaptive waterski and Harvey Weber for athletics.
