Rosetown RCMP respond to traffic stops, fires, break-ins and mischief in early January

Rosetown RCMP dealt with a range of incidents in the first week of January, including traffic enforcement, fires, break-ins, and wellbeing checks.

On Jan. 1, police received a call about a suspicious vehicle in Rosetown at 1:53 a.m., but patrols were unable to locate it. Later that day, at 2:13 p.m., a traffic stop on Highway 4 near Rosetown led to the towing of a vehicle driven by a person with a suspended licence. Charges of driving while disqualified are now before the courts.

On Jan. 3, RCMP were called to the Kyle Community Sports Centre at 9:21 a.m. for a reported break and enter, with items stolen. The investigation is ongoing. That morning, police also assisted in Kyle with the retrieval of property from a residence. In Rosetown, a vehicle fire was reported at 4:35 p.m.; no injuries were reported.

Jan. 4 saw a complaint of a gas-and-dash from a local business at 4:10 p.m., and RCMP assisted with a wellbeing check at a residence in Rosetown at 6:03 p.m.

A fire at Rosetown School on Jan. 5 at 5:51 p.m. was determined to be electrical in nature, caused by a plant light, with no suspicious circumstances. Later that evening, a failure to comply with undertaking conditions was reported; the matter remains under investigation.

On Jan. 6, RCMP conducted a wellbeing check in Kyle at 8:09 a.m. and investigated a minor hit-and-run in Rosetown at 1:02 p.m., where the vehicle remained driveable. At 7 p.m., police responded to a complaint of mischief causing damage to a business in Rosetown; that investigation is ongoing. RCMP also conducted a wellbeing check in Kyle on Jan. 7 at 1:58 p.m.

Between Jan. 1 and Jan. 8, Rosetown RCMP issued 41 traffic-related charges and responded to two 911 misdials and two false alarm calls.
