Rosetown RCMP investigate ATM theft in Beechy

ROSETOWN — Rosetown RCMP responded to a number of incidents across the detachment area between Jan. 16 and Jan. 22, including an ongoing investigation into a break-and-enter at the Beechy Sports Center that resulted in the theft of more than $5,000 in cash.

Police say the break-in was reported at about 9:17 a.m. on Jan. 19. An ATM was damaged and cash exceeding $5,000 was taken. Officers obtained video footage and the investigation continues.

RCMP also received reports of multiple hit-and-run collisions during the week, including a complaint involving a vehicle in Harris on Jan. 18 and two separate reports in Lucky Lake and Rosetown on Jan. 20 and Jan. 19, respectively. Minor damage was reported in the Rosetown case.

On Jan. 17, officers responded to a complaint of mischief in Rosetown. Police attended and removed the subject of the complaint from the residence, providing a courtesy ride.

RCMP also conducted wellbeing checks in Elrose on Jan. 18 and in Rosetown on Jan. 20. Police said no further investigation was required in the Rosetown call.

Other incidents reported included a trespassing complaint in Rosetown on Jan. 18, which remains under investigation, and a suspicious person report in Beechy on Jan. 19. A suspicious vehicle complaint was reported in the RM of Victory on Jan. 16, but officers were unable to locate the vehicle due to a delay in reporting.

Police received two harassing communications complaints on Jan. 21, one in Kyle and one in Rosetown. Officers said there was insufficient evidence to proceed in the Kyle complaint, while the Rosetown report was deemed unfounded. A possible assault complaint in Rosetown later that day was also deemed unfounded, with no charges laid.

On Jan. 22, RCMP received a driving complaint on Highway 4 south of Kyle.

During the reporting period, police issued 28 traffic-related charges and responded to one 911 misdial and one false alarm call.
