Library users in Rosetown saved more than $384,000 last year simply by borrowing materials through the Wheatland Regional Library system.
In 2025, local patrons saved a total of $384,012.93 by using their library cards rather than purchasing books and other materials.
Patrons are also reminded they can suggest titles for the library to purchase if a book they want is not currently available in the system. Requests can be made online at wheatland.sk.ca by clicking on “Services” and selecting “Suggest a Title Purchase.” Once submitted, the request is sent to Wheatland headquarters, where staff begin the process of acquiring the book for the local branch. The patron who suggested the title will be the first to read it when it arrives.
Several new titles have recently been highlighted for readers.
Daughter of Egypt by Marie Benedict (historical fiction). Set in the 1920s during the discovery of King Tutankhamun’s tomb, the novel explores the little-known role of Evelyn Herbert, daughter of Lord Carnarvon. Her curiosity and determination place her at the centre of one of archaeology’s most famous discoveries.
Son of Nobody by Yann Martel (adult fiction). A Canadian scholar studying at Oxford discovers an ancient Greek epic poem lost for centuries. As he translates the story of a goatherd’s son who leaves his family to fight in the Trojan War, he confronts the same themes of ambition, love and homesickness.
The Keeper by Tana French (mystery). When a young Irish woman engaged to a prominent local figure is found dead in a river, the town becomes sharply divided. Retired Chicago detective Cal Hooper finds himself drawn into the investigation and the tensions surrounding it.
Bloodlust by Sandra Brown (thriller). Detective Mitch Haskell continues to spiral after the death of his wife two years earlier and believes a local crime figure was responsible. As he pursues the truth, a complicated relationship with therapist Dr. Dylan Reede brings new risks and revelations.
To Cage a Wild Bird by Brooke Fast (science fiction). In the city of Dividium, crime means a life sentence in the notorious Endlock prison. Bounty hunter Raven Thorne deliberately gets herself arrested in order to rescue her brother, only to discover new dangers inside the prison walls.
Residents are encouraged to make use of their library card to access books, programs and services available through the Wheatland Regional Library system.
