A trucking operation, including a truck wash open to the public, was approved by councillors during their regular meeting on Dec. 15.
His company hasn’t yet bought the land for its location, according to an application from Caleb MacDonald of Dodsland, although he supplied a drawing of it. He is considering buying a privately owned lot west of the municipally owned west-side industrial area, according to his development permit application.
The site would become the operations centre for MAC D Services trucking, the application says. It would also include a 100-foot by 110-foot shop and a two-bay truck wash.
MacDonald was waiting for zoning approval before purchasing the land and was also considering another lot in the industrial area.
“He is still looking at getting quotes because there is a lot of groundwork required out there,” said Amanda Bors, the acting chief administrator, during the meeting. “There are a lot of trees, it’s very low-lying, so a lot of work would have to be put into it.”
“It would be great to see some work being done at Little Banff,” Mayor Trevor Hay said.
The trucking company mainly hauls grain, and the company had consulted competitors in the area, Bors said.
“They’re not looking to take away business,” she said. “They already have a full load of customers.”
The town had notified neighbours and had not received any objections, she added.
Councillors also approved a six-month extension for the development permit issued to Gas Plus Advantage to return a former gas station to its original purpose. The company still has work to complete at the former fuel outlet at Railway Avenue and First Street East, Bors said.
“Our expected deadline to finish the improvements was Dec. 15, but unfortunately, we won’t be able to complete the development by that date,” wrote Rachit Lamba of Saskatoon, the company’s operations director.
Council also passed a motion accepting the results of the by-election that brought John Kadler onto council. He took the oath of office before the meeting and fills the seat formerly occupied by Joe Spratt.
