Letters to the Editor: Main Street paving and public input

Resident questions scope of Main Street paving, calls for practical equipment use

After reading in The Eagle about the paving plans for Main Street, I have a question. Why not pave from 6th Avenue to Railway Avenue? When work is done to parking area along the street in front of businesses, are they going to harden the tire pits to remove them so they don’t come back?

In regards to a new pumper truck or vac truck, why do we need a new one? Rebuild the one we have if needed and then use it more. Suck up spring and rainfall puddles so people do not have to drive through them and the standing water doesn’t damage the road. I feel we have the manpower to do this at the town shop.

Letter calls for transparency, public input in town decision-making

Re: Town Budget, pg. 14, March 10

Firstly I applaud you for your council reports on how our tax dollars are spent and decisions made. Without your input we would have no idea as all is about secrecy. In camera meetings keep your reporters and we the taxpayers from any major discussions and I ask why?

Myself and many others would like to see you report on upcoming issues being tabled so we could attend or advise our councillors as to our concerns, opinions or even suggestions. I believe there is a wealth of knowledge and common sense as well as strategies ignored and silenced by administrators, mayors and council members. Why?

We pay the salaries of administrators, supervisors, mayors and council, yet we can’t get past the front desk. Why?

Rural municipal offices post the phone numbers and email address of councillors, yet we can’t get ours, even on request. Why?

Our town has had administrators, supervisors, councilmen, even a mayor relieved of duty at the whim of a few with no explanation. Why?

How many tax dollars have been spent in court in regard to these secret issues? Confidential: why?

We all want to see Rosetown great again, but we all need to have input, that’s how it works.

Sincerely
Bill Simpson,
Rosetown
