Letter to the Editor: Re Two Acquitted in Rosetown Sexual Assault Trials
I commend the young ladies who so bravely put themselves forward to seek justice.
In my opinion the judge should at least have cautioned the men not to put themselves in a position that they may be accused of sexual assault.
I was astounded by the chauvinistic remark of the Crown prosecutor: "It's something that happens to almost every girl at some point -- they're going to get groped." Really! And he's a Crown prosecutor! I thought they were there to support the victims.
Hasn't he heard about the "Me Too" movement? Is he even in this century?
Is it any wonder that rape is the most under-reported crime.
With this type of attitude it's not difficult to understand that Saskatchewan has the highest incidents of domestic violence in Canada.
