Letter to the Editor: Concern raised over Rosetown paving policy

I would like to voice my concern after our paving project for this coming year was voted down.

We live on Fortune Crescent in Rosetown. Our crescent has been in need of paving for years and was on a list for paving approximately 15 years ago, but the list disappeared and it never happened.

Now the town’s policy for paving has evolved into the homeowner having to pay thousands of dollars to repair the public street, sidewalk and curbs. Our crescent is unique because we have four owners living on Ninth Avenue and don’t need to use the crescent. We also have many rental properties, and the owners won’t pay thousands of dollars to repair a street they do not live on.

If the town’s policies don’t change, I can see more residential streets deteriorating to the condition ours is in.

I invite you to go on an adventure and drive our crescent. After that, decide if it is in more need of pavement than South Main Street, which is to be paved again this year.

The condition our residential streets are in is nothing Rosetown should be proud of.
