Legion honours students in National Youth Remembrance Contest
Students were recognized for their creativity and reflection during the annual National Youth Remembrance Contest, with 118 entries submitted across four categories.
The contest included Black and White Poster, Colour Poster, Poem and Essay divisions, with winners announced in Primary, Junior and Intermediate grade groupings.
In the Primary division (Grade 2), Aubrey Keith earned first place in the Black and White Poster category, while Raine Klippenstein took top honours for a Colour Poster. Kaci Cairns placed second and Rhett Klassen finished third in the Colour Poster category.
Junior division winners were announced for Grades 4, 5 and 6.
In Grade 4, Black and White Poster winners were Grayson Keith (first), Harrison Macey (second) and Violet Gray (third). Colour Poster winners were Aanya Haider (first), Cali Ritchie (second) and Carson Roy Forsyth (third).
In Grade 5, Trystynn Domingo won first place for a Black and White Poster, followed by Jaycie Fortin in second and George Cormack in third. In Colour Poster, Andi Johnston placed first, with Pyper Lefaivre second and Layton Herring third.
Grade 6 results included a Literary Poem first-place finish by Annabelle Rose Kayseas. In the Black and White Poster category, Maxine Portia B. Binondo took first, Silas Danskin placed second and Bentley Opfergelt finished third. Colour Poster honours went to Avery Grant in first, Farrah Gray in second and Aria Purcell in third.
In the Intermediate division, Grade 7 Literary Essay winners were June Gilchrist (first), Janie Wiebe (second) and Tyrell Domingo (third). In Grade 9, Nathan Ross earned first place for a Literary Poem.
Prize amounts ranged from $15 to $25 in select categories.
