High School Christmas Talent Show
The Rosetown Central High School Christmas talent show on Dec. 16, along with music and dance selections, included two plays written by the student performers. One was Krampus, loosely based on a mythological monster who ate children. Siblings - played by Iain St. John (foreground, L), Evolet Welter, Jordan Merrifield (background, L) and Kara Cook - stop fighting to see who’s returned and discovered they had been faking Christmas cheer. That person is Krampus, called the Christmas Accountant (Ratmyr Kuzmych), who’d left them with a Christmas cheer score of plus three for the holiday tasks they did. He then returns for the cookies they’d baked and discovers that their happy behaviour was a ruse. Their score would drop into the negative and the play ends just before he eats them.
