The library has some fun programs coming up in May.

First, there will be a crafting program for teens and adults on May 7 at 3:30 p.m., where participants will get to learn how to make block printing art with pieces of Styrofoam, creativity, and paint. There are limited spaces for this program, so please contact the library to register soon!

There will also be a children's Storytime focused on the deep sea on May 12 at 10:30 a.m. for children aged 5 and under. Stay tuned for more upcoming programs!

New on the shelves

Mad Mabel by Sally Hepworth (thriller). Aside from being a curmudgeon who minds everyone else's business, few would suspect eighty-one-year-old Elsie Mabel Fitzpatrick has a past that she's worked hard at concealing. Because when it comes to murder, no one ever suspects little girls or old ladies. When a new little girl moves into the neighbourhood and stops at nothing to befriend Elsie, her carefully constructed life threatens to come crashing down as her secrets begin to come to light.

Cherry Baby by Rainbow Rowell (adult fiction). Cherry's husband, Tom, is in Hollywood making a movie based off his popular webcomic that involves a character based on Cherry named "Baby." Wide-hipped, heavy-chested, double-chinned Baby. No fat girl ever wants to see herself caricatured on the big screen, least of all by their own soon-to-be ex-husband. Russ Sutton knew Cherry when she was a young art student. Before Tom. Russ knows Cherry. He likes Cherry. And best of all, he's never heard of Tom's webcomic.

Annie Knows Everything by Rachel Wood (romance). After getting let go from her job and learning her sister is engaged to the worst man alive, Annie needs a win. Filling the open role in her company's data strategy team is just what the doctor ordered. So what if she doesn't know how to write code? Surely Connor — the team's overworked, aggravating, and hot interim head — will soon realize how capable Annie is. But with sparks flying at work and at home, Annie begins to see how complicated taking matters into her own hands can be.

The Mountains We Call Home by Kim Michele Richardson (historical fiction). When Cussy Lovett, a Packhorse Librarian from Appalachia, is unjustly incarcerated, she finds a new calling as a prison librarian, bringing hope to downtrodden women and voiceless city residents alike, finding a home even while separated from those she loves.

Blood Bound by Ellis Hunter (fantasy). Astrid, the last Nachstern witch and heir to the Queendom of Arturea, has always known she is destined to die. And now Astrid's time is up. She is heading into enemy territory to face Prince Zryan, the most powerful dragon rider in eons, with only her familiar, her potions and her wits to aid her. But with a rebellion brewing on the horizon, Astrid must join forces with unlikely allies to stave off the Blight ravaging the lands and battle those who would doom them.
