Four-sided map planned to help cemetery visitors

Town leaders plan to have a four-sided map installed at the cemetery.
The existing map is two-sided, and it's hard for people to find someone's grave, town councillors were told.
"People always complain, 'You're looking to the west and the map's behind you,' sort of describes it," Mayor Trevor Hay said during the May 19 council meeting. "It's been a big complaint for many years," Hay said later.
With the new format, people will be able to see the map while looking toward the particular part of the cemetery where the grave is located, Hay said.
Also, the cemetery was one location where Rosetown Age Friendly members learned they could place benches under its program. The organization is considering three bench requests, according to a report to council from its May meeting.
Hay suggested some spots in the cemetery, including around the planned map.
Meanwhile, Amanda Bors, the acting chief administrator, noted that, while literature says that town staff will clean and maintain benches, that's not the case for any that stand on private property.
The report also said that the group would hold its annual Age Friendly barbecue on Sept. 10.
