Elrose junior badminton sees strong turnout, district results

Twenty-three Elrose Composite students signed up for junior badminton this season under coaches Jayce Fullerton, Rachelle Nisbet and Mariette Strydom, Strydom said in a season-end report.

The team played matches against Lucky Lake, Dinsmore and Kyle before competing in sub-sectionals against Dinsmore.

Following the Easter break, Elrose hosted sectionals. Oscar Minogue competed in boys singles, while Jana Duvenage played girls singles. Thomas Fortin and Kalder Nickason, along with Jayse Friesen and Emery Fortin, teamed up in boys doubles. PC Strydom and Samatha Llesol played mixed doubles.

All Elrose players qualified for the district playoffs in Biggar.

At districts, Duvenage placed fourth in girls singles, while Fortin and Nickason earned third in boys doubles.
