Clinic move to hospital set for April 1
By Ian MacKay
“It’s finally happening” — the move of the community clinic to the hospital — council members learned last week.
“April 1 is our official first day as Saskatchewan Health Authority employees in the new clinic,” said a report from the Rosetown and District Primary Care Centre to the March 16 council meeting.
Staff will “ensure all our patients that their medical files and continuity of care will not be affected by the move,” the report said, adding appreciation to town administration and council for their “hard work and support over the past years.”
“I’d also like to thank them, the staff, for their help,” Mayor Trevor Hay said during the meeting. “It’s been a long go.”
Councillors were talking about moving the clinic to the hospital when he joined council in 2016, Hay said.
He also expressed appreciation to the Rural Municipality of St. Andrews for putting up the building on First Avenue West where the clinic has been located, and to surrounding RMs for their contributions to help keep it running.
“All the equipment in that building will be moved over to the hospital,” Hay noted.
A couple of councillors clapped when he asked whether any had comments about the move.
Also, staff with Stark & Marsh, the town’s contracted auditing firm, visited for two days in February, and Amanda Bors, the acting chief administrator, expects draft audited statements to arrive by the April 6 council meeting, she said.
Sixty people voted in the advance poll on March 10, Bors told questioner Jan Coffey-Olson.
