Canada, the Country of My Dreams
In my dreams I see a country that is vast and strong and free
With prairies wide and grasses blowing free,
With lofty mountain grandeur and softly rolling hills,
And it reaches out from sea to sea to sea.
In my dreams I see a country with lakes so crystal clear,
With rivers wide and gently flowing streams,
Birds singing, winging upward in skies of brilliant blue,
This is Canada the country of my dreams.
In my heart I want a country that is free from hate and fear,
Where people all walk hand in hand a-kin,
Where race and creed are honoured, where clothes do not define,
And it matters not the colour of your skin.
In my heart I want a country where truth and justice reign,
Where caring for each other is the way
That we show our true compassion, and honesty and truth
Are the way we live from day to day to day.
In my mind I know this country can be strong and proud and free
If we set aside our petty thoughts and greed,
If we just respect each other for who we truly are
And we work to help and see each others' need.
In my heart I know this country has the strength and has the will
To make and shape a better world,
We are sisters, we are brothers and we'll stand hand in hand
In this country where the maple leaf's unfurled.
In my dreams I see this country that is vast and strong and free
With prairies wide and grasses blowing free,
With lofty mountain grandeur and softly rolling hills,
And it reaches out from sea to sea to sea.
In my dreams I see this country with lakes so crystal clear,
With rivers wide and gently flowing streams,
Birds singing, winging upward in skies of brilliant blue,
This is Canada the country of my dreams.
