Canada Post youth grants open until Feb. 27
EAGLE STAFF
People have until almost the end of February to file a grant application with the Canada Post Community Foundation. The deadline is 2 p.m. on Feb. 27.
Organizations can receive community-based project grants of up to $25,000 or $50,000 Signature or Indigenous Truth and Reconciliation Signature grants for projects intended for young people.
Examples include arts and recreation, youth outreach services, literacy and language, projects for Indigenous youth, and gender and sexual diversity programs, , a recent foundation statement said.
For example, groups could receive up to $5,000 to install park improvements, buy musical instruments and stage after-school programs.
They could receive as much as $25,000 to improve a community centre or conduct mentoring programs or programs for at-risk youth, while Signature grants could go to new anti-racist education efforts or “fulfilling the unique dreams” of children with severe physical disabilities, a document said.
People who donate to the foundation or buy special postage stamps provide the money that the foundation distributes each year “to charities, schools and community organizations that offer programming for Canadian children and youth,” the statement said.
See canadapost.ca/community for application information. The foundation has directed a total of $16.4 million to over 1,400 projects across the country since 2012, the statement said.
